Suspect sought for using cell phone to take photos up skirts

Just another reminder to be aware of your surroundings. Peeping toms taking photos up women's skirts are getting more clever to avoid detection. Taking photos up women's skirts is a crime. In this particular case, the victim is a minor.

This incident happened Friday, March 25, 2011 inside the Stride Rite shoe store at Discover Mills Mall in Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County. I am sharing this in the hopes that someone will recognize the description of the suspect.

Second sketch of suspect

At approximately 7:10 p.m. on Friday, March 25th, a male suspect was confronted by the mother of a teenager after the mother suspected the man of taking a photo up her daughter's skirt. According to the mother, she observed the man as he appeared to be looking at boxes of shoes as he held his cell phone in his right hand at an odd angle. The mother stepped in between her daughter and the man and confronted him, asking him if he was taking photos up her daughter's skirt.

The mother was not convinced by the man's claim of innocence and asked to see the photos in his phone. The man held up his cell phone, showing an innocent photograph of a young girl in a red dress with a blue background. The mother asked the man to show her the other photos in his phone. The man stated that there were no other photographs.

The mother didn't believe him, and demanded that he not leave the store until mall security arrived. The man did not stay, and worked his way out of the store without giving a valid reason for needing to leave. The mother worked to remember details of the man's appearance.

DESCRIPTION: The man is a semi-dark-skinned Hispanic male, about 5'7" to 5'8" tall. He has short black hair styled to look somewhat spiky. He has a little bit of a widow's peak at hairline.  He was wearing a black short sleeved tee shirt with white text on front and back. The back of the tee-shirt had a list of band tour dates and read, "The Last of the Tour" across the back, above a white box containing the tour dates. The man also has a tattoo on the left side of his neck. The exact design of the tattoo was not noted but it is something in a round design, and may be a scorpion. He was clean-shaven and is in his late 20's to late 30's in age.  He speaks English pretty well, with a bit of a Spanish accent.

If you have information regarding this suspect, please notify the Gwinnett County Police at 770-513-5000.
