Neither the shooter or the victim are students at either of the schools. The name of the victim has not been announced, but it's known that the victim has been taken to Gwinnett Medical Center for treatment. I have read that the victim's injuries are "not life threatening," but being shot in the chest cannot be good. The Snellville Police Department is handling this case, with assistance from Gwinnett County Public Schools' Police.

This shooting happened at night, and no elementary students were around, unless they were attending the scrimmage game. Members of the high school band were kept inside the school on lock-down. It sounds to me like South Gwinnett followed proper safety procedures for students and staff. Most people at the game were unaware anything out of the ordinary was happening.
